For me, portraiture is about giving the centre stage to the model. By focusing on the face, I am able to include characterisation, personal context, possible relationships and often a connection with the person's life, lifestyle and work. My portraiture is therefore about conveying a very real and intense sense of the personality of the person, and their interests and personal environment.
Unlike other photography styles, the subjects of portraiture are often non-models. This means that ordinary people such as fathers, mothers, their kids, businessmen and even the local man on the street can be subjects in portraitures.
